In this week's edition of Meet The Team, we learn a little more about Jonathan, our Senior Analyst (OSV+), who sources, assesses and manages a number of the fund's portfolio companies.

Read on to learn more about why he joined Openspace, and something unexpected about himself.

What do you do here at Openspace?

I cover growth investments at Openspace under OSV+. As part of the growth team’s mandate, we look at mid-stage companies across Southeast Asia. On top of sourcing for new deals, I am also responsible for supporting our portfolio companies.

Why did you join Openspace?

I’ve always been excited about the technology space and wanted to focus on the Southeast Asia market. My background in computer science and having spent time in banking also complement the skill sets relevant to growth investing. Openspace felt like the perfect fit.

What is one unexpected thing about you?

I’m unfortunately allergic to dogs.

Who's someone you’ve always wanted to meet?

David Goggins. His motivation and mental resilience is inspiring and I would love to have a conversation with him on how he does this.

What's one thing you really like about working here?

Definitely the people and culture. Ownership and independence are greatly valued here and I like that there is flexibility to structure our own work schedule provided we are able to complete our work at the end of the day. It is also a great experience for me to learn from high performing individuals in the firm.

Do you have a particularly interesting or memorable highlight of working here?

Last year’s AGM (Annual General Meeting) - this was before I even started working at the firm. Everyone was so full of life and gave me a glimpse of how the teams were able to work so well together despite being based in different offices in the region!

What's a really good piece of advice that you've received from someone in the office?

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable! Best advice I’ve received for personal growth.

If you were to make an Openspace pizza, what's your chosen topping?

Tomato and burrata pizza topped up with basil pesto - a la LINO
