We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Jessica Huang Pouleur to General Partner. She is the first to join co-founders Shane Chesson and Hian Goh, who have led the firm since 2014. Her skills and experience make her an ideal leader for our firm as we reaches a significant stage in our own development. She will continue to lead investments for Openspace’s mid-stage growth fund,OSV+, and thus far sits on the Boards of GoPlay and JIWA Group and as an observer for Validus and Kumu.
Jessica’s career spans over 15 years, with deep experience in growth and late-stage investment and corporate strategy across Asia Pacific. She joined us in 2020, leaving her previous role at The Walt Disney Company, where she headed Corporate Strategy, Business Development and M&A across APAC and the MiddleEast. During her time at Disney, she helmed key strategic initiatives and notable M&A transactions. Prior to this, she led the Southeast Asia investment team for Providence Equity Partners, a global telecommunications, media and technology sector focused private equity fund.
In just over a year, she has already led a series of investments through OSV+, doubling down on our existing portfolio companies such as Pluang and Kumu, as well as executing the first external deal in Indonesia’s JIWA Group. OSV+ is already showing top tier returns on the back of six existing portfolio companies.
“Hian and I have known Jessica since 2005 and have been constantly impressed with her judgment, expertise and hustle as she built her track record across senior investing and corporate roles. As Openspace moves into a new stage of development, with two new funds closed and 10 new team members in 2021 alone, she is the ideal addition to the Partner group to help the firm address the vibrant Southeast Asian opportunity” commented Shane Chesson.
“At Openspace, we are now at 45% female representation and 11 different nationalities. Jessica as Partner is a sign of the maturation of our platform and the importance of this diversity as we seek to deliver the Openspace promise of Active Intelligence across Southeast Asia for the benefit of our entrepreneurs and investors”, added Hian Goh.
“I feel privileged to be a part of the leadership of such an incredibly high caliber and collaborative team. It has been an incredible first year for me at Openspace and I look forward to many more exciting and productive years to come”, said Jessica Huang Pouleur.
