Pareen Chaudhari, our Investments Associate, was recently engaged as a speaker in the Petronas x StartupX event, held at SGInnovate. Pareen took the stage to introduce Openspace and shared about the vital role of Venture Capitals in fueling innovation and fostering the growth of startups.
The speaking engagement was part of the PETRONAS FutureTech 3.0 growth accelerator program held on 19 June 2023 Monday, with attendance from startups across the APAC region.
The program aims to foster positive change and promote sustainability within the industry. The top 25 startups from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, and Australia were carefully selected to participate in a 16-week program. These companies include those in the energy and mobility, frontier technologies, chemical and materials, industry and work, and sustainability companies.
This initiative serves as a platform for startups and prominent ecosystem players to enhance their understanding of one another and engage in meaningful conversations to explore potential synergies.
Pareen’s participation highlighted the significance of the work Openspace does within the startup ecosystem. She shared more about our firm’s role in identifying, nurturing, and scaling promising startups by actively riding the cycles side-by-side with our portfolio companies to enable them to make a significant impact in their respective industries. By shedding light on how Openspace Ventures typically supports startups in their growth journey, Pareen provided an opportunity for the startups to delve deeper into the Singapore ecosystem and engage with prominent players within the region.
“Deciding on what not to do is just as important as deciding on what to do.”
One key takeaway from Pareen’s insights was the importance of making strategic decisions. She noted the critical role of thoughtful decision-making in the startup journey, encouraging startups to focus on what really matters for their success and avoid distractions that could hinder their growth.
The program will conclude in August with a Demo Day, where the shortlisted startups will present their solutions to PETRONAS executives, corporate partners, and investors among various stakeholders.
